Long Range Outlooks & Drought

Snow-lovers rejoice! We ended up with a record 10.9 inches of snow fall in Wausau yesterday (melted down it was a record 0.54 inches of liquid precipitation for December 20th). Much of central Wisconsin had 6 to 10 inches while it was more in the 2 to 4 inch range in the Northwoods. Besides guaranteeing a […]

February 29th Snow Totals

The biggest storm of the Winter season is not over yet but it is not too early to do a preliminary post-mortem on the storm and forecast. As expected the two big wild cards in the forecast were the line between rain and snow (where would it be?) and whether or not there would be […]

Record Snow Totals

As expected, some heavy snow developed in the area yesterday. The only unexpected part was that the snow did not make it as far north as forecast. The heaviest band of snow was south of Marathon county. The snow ended up breaking records for most largercities around central Wisconsin including Wisconsin Rapids, Stevens Point, and Wausau. […]

Storm Post Mortem

I suppose it is time for the final post mortem on the wild spring storm that moved through the area on Tuesday and Wednesday. Tony had quite a story about driving through the sleet and snow Tuesday night! It was a situation (people getting stuck) that repeated itself hundreds of times across Northcentral Wisconsin over the […]

Snow Winding Down

Good news. It looks like the late winter storm is panning out as expected. The central and southern part of the area will end up with 3 to 6 inches of snow. A couple spots might top out around 7. Most of the accumulating snow is ending at the time of this writing and not much […]

Snow Totals

We have seen very heavy bands of snow through most of the afternoon and evening.  A few of us saw a slight break tonight but the blowing and drifting snow still made for reduced visibilities and challenges on the roadways.   As always there were several accidents being reported.  A few interesting notes about this […]

Major Winter Storm

Trying to do a few things at once tonight but I wanted to write a quick blog about what is going to be happening tomorrow.  As most people have probably heard we are going to see a significant Winter Storm,  it will likely be the worst storm that we have seen this season.  The last […]

Heatwave to Hurricanes

First I just want to point out how crazy warm it was in the Northwoods this afternoon.  Ironwood, Michigan in the UP rose to 61, Land O’Lakes which is notoriously known for being cold made it all the way to 59.  For the middle of February that is unbelievable! Those temps double what is normal.  […]

Can’t believe the BIG game is less than 24 hours away.  Tonight we ran a story on Buffet the manatee that predicted that Green Bay, I hope he and everyone who has picked Green Bay is right.  GO PACK GO!! Speaking of Green Bay….Dallas… and the SUPERBOWL… I am sure you have seen it but […]
